Kahler Glen Athletic Club Yearend report for 2009-2010
There will be no dues increase for the 2010 - 2011 fiscal year.
This has been a great year for the club, and here are some of our highlights:
Ø We now have 102 members.
We have gained 10 new memberships this budget year, (6 general and 4 midweek). We welcome new members Carolynn & Gary Bell, Bobbie & Dan Busch, Byron & Pauline Kato, Christine & John Humphreys, Morey & Ken Grosse, Dave & Meg Krah, Paul & Karen Goebels, George & Jimi Wilson, Becky & Jay Justus, Pat & Jan Deveny, and our three new memberships by resale, Kim Karnes, Bill Gibbs & family, and Jo McElmurry.
Ø Major projects this past year include both seen and unseen accomplishments.
Seen:
· Commemorated our machine room with a plaque as the Claude Munsell room
· added two cardiovascular exercise machines, one donated by Gary and Kaye Marks,
· added a mirror to the exercise room for our weight lifters,
· installed pool room ‘lap clock’ donated by Joan Foote,
· painted both locker rooms and the entry exterior doors,
· replaced damaged gutters and down spouts on two areas of the building,
· added heat tape to the roof valley above the meeting room to prevent ice damming,
· replaced the three broken resin tables and a number of broken chairs,
· replaced the exterior lights with e-bulbs to save energy;
· added timers to the column lights to save money, and installed LED lights into three of our eight column light fixtures – with help from an energy-saver subsidy from the Chelan County PUD,
· replaced the burned-out underwater lights with energy-saving LED lights, and added timers for the pool and spa underwater lights,
· provided regular maintenance including, most recently, carpet cleaning in the locker rooms,
· repaired the damaged rug in the meeting room and replaced broken clock in pool room.
Unseen:
· Installed a exhaust fan in the chemical storage room,
· added venting to the soffit area above the entry way to prevent structural damage; and installed ducting to our dehumidifier, which will protect our equipment and electrical panels in the machine room,
· contracted with the Butlers company to maintain pool and spa chemistry,
· paid off $35K of our $155K private loans,
· added $11+K to contingency reserve fund,
· raised more than $4K for the local Volunteer Fire Fighters Association at our 2009 Summer Mariachi Charity Event.
Ø Items to been done in this coming year:
Modify the duct system into the sports court to eliminate sweating and forestall damage in the area above the ceiling; add to the duct system in the mechanical room to provide for exhaust and add heat to the intake system during the cold months to increase the system’s efficiency.
We plan to complete the door painting and weather stripping later this spring.
Ø Goals for the coming year:
Increase our membership, continue to pay down the private debt, build up the reserve fund, maintain our facility at the highest level possible and help sponsor a summer charity music event Saturday August 14th in conjunction with the KG Community Association and the KG Resort for the Beaver Valley School.
Members are reminded to act as a supervisor when using the facilities. Please report any damage or problems that you observe, including as many details as you can and the time of the observation, as soon as possible. You can do this by calling Bill Miller at 509-763-0560 or 425.444.9598 or by putting a note under the office door. Our Access Card system records the time of entry by a member’s card, but not when a member leaves or whether it was the member using the card. On a yearly basis, we do not experience very much vandalism or damage to our facilities. However, it does happen and prompt reporting helps to get the problems resolved.
Remember to remind members and guests that no glass containers or food are allowed in the pool/spa area.
KGAC members are asked to encourage non-AC members to come in for a free day-pass to try out our club and to join the fun. Thanks, the Board.
