| Beaver Valley BBQ Charity Fund Raiser a rock’n success at Kahler Glen The August 14th fund raiser at Kahler Glen, sponsored by the Community Association, the Resort, and the Athletic Club, raised more than $8,696 for the Beaver Valley School. Funds are being donated through the Cascade Education Foundation. Part of the funds will go to a construction fund for a covered play area at the school, especially needed in the winter time around here; any remaining funds will be used to purchase software to assist in providing individualized instruction in Beaver Valley's multilevel classrooms. Our thanks go out to the community for the support of this event. More than 180 folks from the Lake Wenatchee / Plain community and from Kahler Glen were in attendance for the Rock and Roll BBQ event. The music was provided by the Evin Rudes and funds were raised through a silent auction. Nancy and Bill Miller headed the organizational effort, but many, many willing workers provided valuable assistance. Most of the shade umbrellas and canopies came from friends who live along the North Shore. The setup could not have been done without the help of Rob Casad and his wonderful trailer that allowed us to move the five picnic and five conference tables from the Event Center. The grill master was Mark Demeritt and he was assisted by Sara Walker from the Beaver Valley Parents group and her team of parents. Carol Pierce helped marshal the silent auction items. Jan Donley, Marion Brittain, Steve Johannesen, Sandy Lund, Pat Bottoms, Jo McElmurry, Kathy Kelly, Liz Rawlins, and other local supporters pitched in. Kaye Crandall worked as a cashier. The snow-cone machine was borrowed from the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce and operated by Linda Cook and Kathryn Demeritt. Helping with the games was Thom Cook, who provided a little golfing for the kids, and Shannon Braegelmann conducted a water balloon toss, played on the lawn at the Haight property. The piñata was a bust: the cord holding the piñata broke on the first wallop and more than a dozen kids participated in its destruction on the ground. The band played until after dark, which time found folks still dancing on the patio. The list of items sold at the auction can be found on the Kahler Glen Athletic Club website and each and every one of those contributors helped make this a wonderful event for the folks in attendance, but especially showed their generosity to the kids at the Beaver Valley School.
The folks at Kahler Glen were delighted with the support received from the surrounding communities for this important event, in terms of silent auction items contributed but especially in attendance. And the Kahler Glen community was delighted to support the local area with the financial results of the festivities. Last year the Kahler Glen community donated to the Fire Fighters Association, and hopes to continue to hold community centered events in the future. The property owners at Kahler Glen appreciate the importance of supporting organizations in the local communities with whom we share this beautiful area.

This past fiscal year (2009-10) the board has continue to make the necessary repairs and improvement to our facility; this has included adding two new exercise machines, painting both changing rooms, painting the columns supporting the roof, repairing the cement blocks along the interior wall of the pool room, repairing the soffit area above the entry area and adding necessary venting, installing needed ducting in the Claude Munsell mechanical room as well as starting the project of painting all of our steel doors. We have also replaced the underwater lights and added three LED lights to the columns in the pool room. Most of these repairs have come about because we were able to attract 15 new members since January 1, 2009. We hope to continue that progress.

The agenda for the May 15, 2010 Annual meeting will be posted by April 10, 2010.
The budget for next year will also be posted and there will be no dues increase for the 2010-2011 budget year.
The new Bylaws were approved by the more than 75% of the membership at the May 2009 Annual meeting and then later the board approval a new midweek membership category.

MEMBERSHIPS
Ø Membership Sales - Over the past 12 months the KGAC has successfully processed three new membership sale and 5 resale. The KGAC currently has 96 members.
Ø Resale Assistance Program - Any KGAC member may join the Resale Assistance Program for a non refundable fee of $300. Members choosing to enroll are provided with prospective buyers who contact the KGAC. This program was designed to help members list their memberships for resale, locate prospective buyers, and optimize the value of their sale. If you are interested in enrolling in this program please consult the Kahler Glen Athletic Club website for additional information.
OPERATIONS
Ø Volunteer Contributions - We sincerely appreciate all the volunteer contributions from our members and the outstanding support received from our staff to keep our facility clean and safe. We especially wish to thank our Operations Manager, Claude Munsell, and Board members, Don Carlson and Bill Miller, who have sacrificed their personal time to help manage the facility and pool on a daily basis. We would also like to recognize our outstanding support staff including Bill Sage for his work on our pool water chemistry, and Mike and Zelda Scott for their outstanding support in keeping the pool and facility clean and in excellent condition! If you see any of them please give them a well deserved thanks for their effort!
Ø Facility Improvements - This year the KGAC installed a new pool heater, proximity card security system, wireless internet, and expanded the cable television channels. Planned improvements for 2008 include: a new ventilation fan for the chemical storage room, and an improved plumbing drain system to assist in backwashing the pool to help the pool stay in chemical balance. Ø Open Forum - An Open Forum was held on Saturday March 29th to review options to enhance membership sales. After significant debate it was determined that low entry cost options were not advisable and that the preferred method to enhance sales would be to design a program to market to local community members in the general vicinity. Steve Craig, KGAC member and owner of Lake Wenatchee Properties, volunteered to serve on the Board and head a marketing committee. There was a significant amount of debate on the proposed initiative to enable renters that booked through the Kahler Glen Rental Pool to use the pool for a daily fee. This view was supported by the Resort. Many owners were concerned about the potential for damage and liability from a casual user who had no vested ownership in the KGAC and this initiative did not gain enough votes to move forward to the Annual meeting. The Board also mentioned that since our primary loan with Cashmere Valley Bank will be renegotiated in June, they would be open to adjusting the total cost of a membership for anyone who is currently paying a long term contract with interest who desires to pay in full prior to June
FINANCE
Ø Mortgage Principle Reduction - The total outstanding mortgage principle owed by the KGAC was $755,000 in June of 2003. In the past 4 years the KGAC has reduced the mortgage principal $89,000 to approximately $666,000. Members participating in the 10 year program have contractual agreements to reduce the principal by another $15,000+ over the next 7 years. Private lenders provide funding for the KGAC in addition to Cashmere Valley Bank. This year the 5 Year Promissory Note with Cashmere Valley Bank shall expire and be extended at a lower interest rate.
