KG Athletic Club update January 29, 2010

At the annual meeting in May 2009 we adopted the new KGAC Bylaws. Here is what we have accomplished since then.

1.       Installed an exhaust-fan system into our chemical storage room.

2.       Sponsored the Mariachi Benefit and raised $4000.00 for the local volunteer fire district.  We gained a new member through this activity; Gary and Carolynn Bell.

3.       Added a mid-week option to our membership category (see our website http://www.kahlerglenathleticclub.com/ for details).  We have gained two new members in the mid-week category. The Byron & Pauline Kato and the Christine & John Humphreys families.

4.       Announced a winter sales promotion. This has added a general members to the club; Bobbie and Dan Busch. This brought our Charter/General membership to 98.

5.       Painted some of our exterior walls.

6.       Replaced and installed new gutters and down spouts, focusing on the area above the patio.

7.       Acknowledged the contribution that Claude Munsell made to our club as facility manager and Vice President for more than 6 years, saving the club thousands of dollars each year, with a brass plaque mounted above the machine room door in the far corner of the pool room.  Pat and Claude have sold their home and have moved to Wenatchee.  We already miss them, but wish them well in their new condo.

8.       Paid off $35,000 of our private debt.  This payment is the first step in reaching our goal to eliminate the private debt.  Our private debt is now $120K and our business loan with Cashmere Valley Bank is $509K.

9.       Scheduled installation of weatherization of our exterior doors to take place in the spring.

10.   Repaired the carpet damage in the meeting room.

11.   Installed the Arc Trainer, a new ‘refurbished commercial grade’ elliptical exercise machine and a Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike. (The Airdyne was donated by Gary & Kaye Marks.)

12.   Sought bids on retrofitting a duct system for our dehumidifier so that we can better protect the electrical connections and panels and machinery in the machine room.  Waiting for 2010-11 budget year.

13.   Received bids for replacing and installing new underwater pool lights, but will delay decision making until timers on those lights are installed.

14.   Received bids for installing a mirror in the weight lifting end of our exercise room, something weight lifters have requested.

15.   Have a representative at the KG Vision Committee meetings and supporting the process.

16.    Interior painting of the changing rooms and other areas was completed and more touch up in the spring will include our steel exterior doors as well as other interior walls.

17.   The Board will be looking at additional ways to attract new members so that we can pay-off our private debt in a systematic process and continue to handle necessary maintenance issues and improvements to our facility.

  1. Received the donation of a lap clock from member Joan & Chris Foote.
  2. Welcomed two new memberships in Dec 2009, Ken & Morie Grosse and Margaret & David Krah.
  3. Welcomed another membership Jan 15, 2010 Paul & Karen Goebels.
  4. Our membership is now at 100 charter/generals and two midweek.
  5. Cleaned carpets in the hallway, changing rooms and exercise room in mid-January 2010.
  6. Yet to be done: 1. the lights in the pool area on the large columns; e-bulbs or continue with the present system and

2.  replace the timers on the Spa jets to eliminate the option of ‘Hold’, as those jets have run all night at times.

  1. Yet to be determined: A summer social event.  Last summer we sponsored the Mariachi Band & Auction event and at this time we are starting to discuss options.

Members are reminded to act as a supervisor when you are using the facilities.  Please report any damage or problems that you observed and the time of the observation as soon as possible.  Our Access Card system records the time of entry by a member’s card, but not when a member leaves or whether it was the member using the card. On a yearly basis, we do not experience very much vandalism or damage to our facilities. However, it does happen and prompt reporting helps to get the problems resolved.

Remember to remind members and guests that no glass container or food in the pool/spa area.

KGAC members are asked to encourage non-AC members to come in for a free days pass to try out our club and to join the fun.    The Board.
