The Athletic Club Board received strong support for the Adopt-a-family membership plan from the Charter and General members during our recent a telephone survey. More than 65 of the 86 members supported the plan and with 16 of our members we were unable to make direct contact, other than leaving either an email note or a telephone message. This plan was approved on December 27, 2011. Some adjustment to the draft were made and the final policy is provided below. Thanks to all of the members who participated in this process.

Adopt-a-Family Promotion
This program is open to charter and general members, and to those who are not currently club members.
The goals of this promotion are threefold:
- To increase club membership and secure the future of the club,
- To reward club members who recruit new families to join the club,
- To lower dues to club members, especially charter and general members.
Summary:
- Current charter/general members can sponsor new member families for a full-family membership. New member initiation fee will be $950 and monthly dues will be $95. Monthly dues for a sponsoring family will be adjusted to $95 immediately upon payment from the sponsored family and credited at the next regular billing period (May or November).
- If a new member family does not have a sponsor, the benefit from dues reduction will be applied across the charter/general memberships of the club at the next regular billing period.
- Only Charter/General members with their dues current can participate.
- Board members will not be eligible to sponsor a family until six new memberships have joined under this program.
- New memberships under Adopt-a-Family are not voting memberships and are not eligible for resale.
- In May 2014, dues for non-sponsoring, sponsoring, and sponsored families with charter/general memberships will be equalized and the Adopt-a-Family members will become members with voting privileges, unless a general dues reduction makes these changes possible before that date.
Adopted by the board unanimously December 27, 2011
